History

The United Pentecostal Church of Cameron, Missouri, was
founded in 1978 by Rev. and Mrs. Russell Dotson.
Rev. Dotson served as Assistant Pastor for six years at Chillicothe United
Pentecostal Church before moving to Cameron to establish a
new work. They purchased the old Nazarene Church at 503
E. Prospect Street (corner of Prospect and Orange) and held
their first service, a Sectional Youth Rally, on Friday,
June 2, 1978.
Land was purchased North of town on Highway 69 in 1985
under the vision of Rev. and Mrs. Dotson. They believed it was the will of God to grow and expand. After nearly twenty-three
years of service in the original location, a new building was
built at 9529 SE 69 Highway and became their home of
worship and evangelism in the year 2000.

Rev. and Mrs. Dotson retired from pastoring on
December 31, 2002, and passed the responsibilities on to
Rev. and Mrs. C Joseph Jones in a New Year's Eve service.
Rev. Jones served as Youth Pastor at Calvary Pentecostal
Church in St. Joseph, Missouri, for six years, and evangelized
full time for two and a half before coming to Cameron.
Turning Point was added to the name in 2003.

Our Gymnasim project is a great endevour for Turning Point
toward the lives of our children. We are naming this facility
the Russell and Ruth Dotson Family Activity Center (or the Dot
Center) in honor of our founding family and the sacrifices they
have made in twenty-five years of pastoral leadership.
This facilty completed in 2007, serves for youth and family
activities with room for expansion. The Dot Center was built
almost entirely by members of Turning Point. Look how far
we've come in the Lord.
To God be the Glory!
